| Cala, Costa Brava. An odd watercolour to put first because this is not really my style. Painted on cream paper, I used body colour for the white. |
| This is morelike it. Quick, spontaneous and a marvellous memory of a pleasant occasion. Chamber music, outdoors in Rasigueres, France. |
| Secluded bay in the Costa Brava. |
| And another bay. Half hour sketch |
| Mostly I paint on the spot. I dislike using photographs, which take the dynamics of translating 3 dimensions to 2. This took about an hour and a half. Somewhere on the Costa Brava |
| A quater imperial watercolour. Jardin Alpins, Courchevel 1850. More detailed than I usually do, but it was for my son who had spent a season there so he would be looking for some detail. I painted about half of it in front of the scene, and finished off in the studio using reference photos for the detail |

| Village cricket, somewhere in Northamptonshire |
| In the Fens of Cambridgeshire |
| Isle of Skye. Traditional cottage on cream paper. The white is body colour |
| A recent sketch done while out walking on the cliffs near Perranporth, Cornwall |
| Chamber music outdoors in Rasiqueres |
| Outwood common. This has a compositional affinity with the previous painting. It must me a composition I gravitate towards |
| The village of Rasiqueres in south of France. Of of those painting occasions where you can remember the scene exactly, even now |
| Farm in Suffolk |
| Big blobs of paint. Somewhere in Norfolk |
| Watercolour. View across Bath from Oldfield Park. This is a large painting on a full sheet. I sold to an Australian girl who promised she'd send me the money on her return to Oz. She never did! |
